Service Description

*Note* It is recommended that before a child starts learning to read they have been exposed to the following 6 pre-reading skills: love books & reading, have had circa 1,000 books read to them, know basic writing skills/strokes (circle, line, dot, squiggly), print awareness, ask/answer questions, phonological awareness (notice words in a sentence, syllables, phonemic awareness).  Students learn a-z letter sounds/formation, identify beginning sounds in words, learn first blending & segmenting (VC & CVC), practice decoding and reading a limited number of high-frequency words. Recommended for children between the ages of 4-5. A combination of multiple methods are used (e.g. Letterland and Science of Reading).
